Mijn naam is Rachel Melief en ik ben met Dimiter Simeonov medeoprichter van Stichting Bencha Theater.

Bencha Theater/ Vertical Wall Dance vertegenwoordigt een internationaal team van professionele artiesten. Onze spectaculaire vaardigheid in het dansen op een muur als ‘Dancers of the Sky’, maken ons uniek in de theaterwereld. We hebben geen hoogtevrees en dagen de zwaartekracht uit met gewichtloos acrobatisch vernuft. Maar bovenal genieten we van wat we doen en spelen we elke uitvoering vanuit het hart.

De voorstelling TEMPO is een dans en acrobatiek voorstelling tegen het verticale podium aan. Een bijzondere mix van muurdans, muziek en videoprojectie.
Deze voorstelling gaat op 7 mei 2022 in première op het buitenterrein van de Lichtfabriek in Haarlem. Daarna treden we op tijdens het internationale Fringe Festival 2022 te Amsterdam.

Muurdans is een nog jonge kunstdiscipline binnen de podiumkunsten en daar willen wij verandering in brengen. Wij willen deze discipline verder ontwikkelen op een hoger plan met onze avondvullende productie TEMPO.

TEMPO, waar gaat het over?

Onze inspiratie is het verhaal Momo en de tijdspaarders, een boek van Michael Ende.
TEMPO gaat over de versnelling van de tijd onder invloed van technologische innovatie en over hoe we deze innovatie kunnen aanwenden om de tijd naar onze hand te zetten, in plaats van erdoor opgeslokt te worden.

De digitale sneltrein waar we vandaag de dag niet aan ontkomen, slurpt ongemerkt veel van onze aandacht weg. Daardoor missen we vaak kostbare moment en rennen we maar door.

Met onze woordeloze, visuele bewegingsvoorstelling behandelen we een universeel thema dat herkenbaar is voor jong en oud.

In TEMPO gaan (acrobatische) dansers de uitdaging van de verticale muurdans aan. We onderzoeken in de voorstelling de mogelijkheden en onmogelijkheden op het gebied van tijd in de dans op een verticaal speelveld. De spelers werken met uiterst vertrouwen in elkaar, adembenemend!

Tegen de muur van een gebouw vormen dans en fysieke kracht een schijnbare gewichtloosheid en dat roept bij het publiek een wereld vol verbeelding op.

Videoprojecties op het verticale podium en een mix van moderne en klassieke muziek vormen een integraal onderdeel van de voorstelling.

Wat willen we ermee bereiken?

Met TEMPO willen we een breed publiek bereiken en op zoveel mogelijk buitenmuren in verschillende steden optreden. Daarmee krijgt de verticale muurdans bekendheid bij een groter publiek.

Omdat we optreden in de openbare ruimte, is de voorstelling makkelijk toegankelijk en kunnen we mensen bereiken die niet vanzelfsprekend het theater bezoeken.

De muurdans is nog vrij onbekend bij het grote publiek en de impact van dit spectaculaire dansen op een muur zal groot zijn.

Wat hebben we nodig?
Voor de realisatie van TEMPO, inclusief de première op 7 mei 2022, hebben we geld nodig. Hiermee kunnen de integratie van videoprojecties en het gebruik van innovatieve lieren in de voorstelling bekostigd worden. Ook kunnen de composities gemixt worden in een professionele muziekstudio. Via Stichting Bencha Theater en een aantal fondsen krijgen we al ondersteuning en middelen om dit mooie project te starten.

Maar we hebben nog € 15.500, - nodig om de voorstelling TEMPO betaalbaar te kunnen maken voor zowel producent, boekers en publiek. Hiervoor hebben wij jullie hulp nodig en zijn we deze crowdfunding gestart!

Wat is onze tegenprestatie?
Doneren kan op verschillende manieren en u ontvangt van ons natuurlijk een tegenprestatie!

U kunt letterlijk en figuurlijk een steentje bijdragen door één steen of meer stenen van de muur te sponsoren.

Uw persoonlijke boodschap of (bedrijfs-)naam wordt geprojecteerd na afloop van de voorstelling. Zo zet u ons in de schijnwerpers en wij u in de spotlights!

Het is voor grote groepen of bedrijven ook mogelijk om een workshop te kiezen. In de workshop zal er getraind worden in muurdans en acrobatiek. Een spannend en uitdagend groepsuitje.

Voor bedrijven is het mogelijk om vermelding op het verticale speelvlak te krijgen met ‘Mede mogelijk gemaakt door’.

My name is Rachel Melief and 20 years ago, me and my co-founder Dimiter Simeonov started Bencha Theatre Foundation, Bencha Theatre and vertical wall dance, representing an international team of professional artists. Our exceptional skills as “dancers of the Sky” make us unique in wall dance.
We don’t suffer from vertigo and defy gravity with weightless acrobatic aptitude, but above all we enjoy what we do and perform each of our shows straight from the heart. We will have our première at 7 Mai 2022 and we are selected by the international Fringe festival 2022 in Amsterdam.
Wall dance is a relatively young discipline within the performing arts and we would like to reach a greater audience. We are working on a full-length production we call Tempo.

TEMPO performance is a vertical dance and acrobatics show upon a vertical stage. It’s a mixture of wall dance, video projections, music and dramatic expression.

At the same time, we train amateurs, semi-professionals and professionals in aerial acrobatics and vertical wall dance

TEMPO

TEMPO is an acrobatic wall dance performance by Bencha Theatre, and narrates the acceleration of time under the influence of technological innovation, and about how these innovations can be administered to get time on our side instead of being consumed by it.

These days, the digital fast train that we cannot escape gnawes at our attention almost unnoticed, causing us to run passed and lose precious moments of our life. Now that the Corona Pandemic has forced many to a temporary halt, we think it is important to reconsider how we shall take up life from now on.

In Tempo, acrobatic and wall dancers together will face the challenges of vertical wall dance. As our inspiration, we took the story of “Momo and the time thieves” a book by Michael Ende. During the performance we investigate the possibilities and impossibilities of time passing, using dance within the vertical landscape of a city building’s wall. Here, dance and physical strength bind together in seemingly weightless, subtle shapes of harmony and trust, creating a world tantalising the imagination of the spectator. Video projections upon this vertical stage as well as a mixture of modern and classical music bring the performance to completion.

What would we like to achieve with it?

With Tempo, we want to attract a larger audience and reach and fill as many walls in as many cities as possible. With our wordless visual performance, we describe a universally recognizable theme for all regardless of age, or of social or educational background. With the spectacular wall dance and acrobatics, the especially composed music and video projections as well as the innovative use of winches we hope to reach a large audience. We dance the Tempo performance high upon the outer walls of large buildings in various cities, to enhance the visibility of what we do and to also reach people who normally would not visit a theatre. Because vertical wall dance is still largely undiscovered by many the impact upon the spectators is greater than other theatrical art forms.

What do we need?

For the realisation of Tempo, we need more money. With this, we can integrate video projections and innovative winches into the performance. At the same time, especially composed music can be recorded and mixed in a professional sound studio. From Bencha Foundation and several different theatre foundations we have received financial support and means to help realize this beautiful project. However, to make this performance both affordable and feasible, we still need to raise €15.500, - via crowdfunding. That’s where your help comes in.

What is our return favors?

Support takes many shapes and we respond with an appropriate return favor for each one.

It is possible to literally help “pull your weight” by donating a stone or more from the wall, and in doing so, seeing your personal message or business logo as a projection on the wall at the end of the performance. That way, you will make us shine and we will put you in the spotlight.

Another option for larger groups of individuals or businesses is to follow a workshop. In this workshop, acrobatics and wall dance will be trained. It is an exciting and challenging field trip.

Businesses have the option to be listed in the “made possible by” projection.
