Over ons project - Help ons onze debuut CD 'Adrift' met label TRPTK te realiseren!

Het Delphine Trio brengt drie gepassioneerde jonge musici uit verschillende hoeken van de wereld samen: de Australische klarinettist Magdalenna Krstevska, de Nederlandse cellist Jobine Siekman en de uit Zuid-Afrika afkomstige pianist Roelof Temmingh.

Sinds we ons trio in 2020 hebben opgericht, hebben we naast het conventionele repertoire ook veel prachtige, onbekende stukken ontdekt. Deze willen we aan de wereld gaan presenteren op onze debuut CD 'Adrift' die we in juni dit jaar willen gaan opnemen. In het label TRPTK hebben we een geweldige partner gevonden die net zo enthousiast is als wij over dit avontuurlijke repertoire, ons ambitieuze ensemblespel en artistieke authenticiteit. Ook staan zij voor het maken van een opname in de hoogst mogelijke kwaliteit.

De titel 'Adrift' refereert aan stromend water, aan het feit dat een aantal van de componisten moest vluchten of emigreren, en aan het feit dat de stijl van sommige van de stukken afdrijft van klassiek.

Het stuk wat ons in eerste instantie inspireerde om de CD te gaan maken is 'Fantasy on an American Hymn Tune' van Kenneth Leighton, een geniale compositie met sterke emotionele en retorische kwaliteiten, en er is op dit moment geen opname van beschikbaar. Daarnaast zullen op de CD werken staan die minder vaak gespeeld worden maar prachtige composities zijn. Zo zal de Brahms-achtige melancholische Serenade van Robert Kahn. Het trio van componist Robert Delanoff bevat o.a. jazz elementen, terwijl volksmuziek invloeden bij de muziek van Matias Seiber en John Psathas overheersen. Van Piazzolla spelen we tangomuziek uit Argentinië, ‘Oblivion’.

We hebben al meerdere sponsoren en fondsen geworven. Er is echter nog steeds een gat in de begroting waardoor we op dit moment nog niet zouden kunnen gaan opnemen.

Over het Delphine Trio & label TRPTK

Het Delphine Trio, dat opgericht is in 2020 aan het Royal College of Music (RCM) in Londen, bestaat uit een mix van individueel instrumentaal talent, zij vinden elkaar in hun passie voor divers repertoire. Het is bijzonder dat alle leden van het trio een masteropleiding aan de RCM afgerond hebben én ook een RCM Junior Fellowship hebben gekregen. Het Delphine Trio was finalist in de Royal Overseas League Competition 2022 in Londen en hebben muziek opgenomen in de Abbey Road Studios. Ze hebben opgetreden op Britse muziekfestivals en series zoals Buxton International Festival, Banstead Arts Festival, de Kensington & Chelsea Music Society Concert Series en de Royal Albert Hall Classical Coffee Morning Series. In Nederland traden ze op in Almere, Loosdrecht en het Mosterdzaadje. In 2022 ontving het Delphine Trio een beurs van het Mengelberg Fonds om deel te nemen aan de Apeldoorn Masterclass reeks.

About our project - help us to realise our debut CD 'Adrift' with label TRPTK!

The Delphine Trio brings together three passionate young musicians from all around the globe: Australian clarinetist Magdalenna Krstevska, Dutch cellist Jobine Siekman and South African pianist Roelof Temmingh.

Since we started playing together in 2020, we have discovered plenty of beautiful, unfamiliar works in addition to the standard repertoire. Our goal is to introduce and share these works with the world through our debut album, which we plan to record in June this year. We are very excited to be collaborating with the excellent label TRPTK, who offers the world’s very best recording quality, and who is just as passionate about this adventurous repertoire and our authentic artistry.

The album is titled “Adrift”, and it has a few different special meanings. It refers to the theme of flowing water; to the fact that many of the composers emigrated across the world, or were forced to; and to the way some of the works drift away from the classical.

There is one piece in particular that sparked the idea of making this album: Kenneth Leighton’s Fantasy on an American Hymn Tune, a masterwork of epic scale and deep emotive and rhetorical qualities, of which there is currently no recording available online.
Alongside the Leighton, there is the Brahmsian, melancholic Serenade Trio by Robert Kahn, Robert Delanoff’s rather jazzy Trio, music by Matyas Seiber and John Psathas in which folk music is a major influence. We will also record some Argentinian tango music: Piazzolla’s Oblivion.

Recording this CD is a very exciting venture, but also very expensive. We already have a number of sponsors and funds in place, though at present there is still a gap in the budget. We are asking for your help to be able to continue with this super exciting project!

About the Delphine Trio & label TRPTK

The Delphine Trio showcases a combination of individual instrumental talent, intelligent and curious music-making, and a passion for diverse repertoire. Having each completed Masters’ degrees at the RCM, each member of Delphine Trio was also awarded an RCM Junior Fellowship – a rare combination.

The Delphine Trio were finalists in the 2022 Royal Overseas League Competition in London and have recorded at Abbey Rd Studios.
