Masked creativity, the realization of an art project including workshops and an exhibition in collaboration with the organization Fier.

Who are we?
We are Haris, Fien, Janne, Jeremy, Rutger and Zoë, 6 third year photography students from the Willem the Kooning Academy. Currently we are working on a project in collaboration with Fier.

Who is Fier?
Fier is an organization that provides assistance to children, young people and adults who are, or have been, confronted by violence such as domestic violence, sexual violence or honour violence. They offer counselling treatment and if necessary a safe haven. They also help people who have gone through an experience which has left them traumatized.

Our project:

Masked Creativity is in collaboration with girls from Fier of the age of 14-20 years old. With whom we have organized different workshops.

We started with mood board making where we assembled a collection of inspirational images to be used for a photoshoot. With these mood boards we went into a photo studio with the girls for a whole day and taught them some photography tricks and let them direct the photoshoot. Next the images the girls made were printed and then the girls made collages with them. These collages are going to be exhibited in Sandbox Little C Rotterdam from 25/11/2022 – 27/11/2022.

With this project we aimed to introduce a new form of creativity to a group who might not have had the opportunity to explore this field yet. By providing a space, literally and figuratively, the girls were able to achieve this. Throughout this process the girls have been very excited to work on this collaboration with us and to see the final exhibition. We need this crowdfunding to cover costs of printing, equipment and photo studio rental and exhibiting costs.

We love to invite all of you to come see our exhibition and admire the works made by the girls. The opening is on the night of the 25th of November. We hope to see you there!

Wie zijn we?
Wij zijn Haris, Fien, Janne, Jeremy, Rutger en Zoë, 6 derdejaars fotografiestudenten van de Willem de Kooning Academie. Momenteel werken we aan een project in samenwerking met Fier.

Wat is Fier?
Fier is een organisatie die hulp biedt aan kinderen, jongeren en volwassenen die te maken hebben of hebben gehad met huiselijk geweld, en/of seksueel geweld. Ze bieden behandelingen aan en indien nodig een veilige thuis om te wonen. Ze helpen ook mensen die een traumatische ervaring hebben meegemaakt.

Ons project:
Gemaskerde creativiteit is in samenwerking met meiden van Fier met de leeftijd van 14-20 jaar. Met wie we verschillende workshops hebben georganiseerd.

We zijn begonnen met het maken van moodboards, waarbij we een verzameling inspirerende afbeeldingen hebben verzameld om te gebruiken voor een fotoshoot. Met deze moodboards zijn we een hele dag met de meiden een fotostudio ingegaan en hebben we ze wat fotografietrucjes geleerd en de fotoshoot door hen laten regisseren. Vervolgens werden de afbeeldingen die de meiden maakten geprint en maakten ze er collages van. Deze collages worden tentoongesteld in Sandbox Little C (Rotterdam) van 25/11/2022 – 27/11/2022.

Met dit project willen we een nieuwe vorm van creativiteit introduceren bij een groep die nog niet de kans heeft om hun eigen creativiteit te verkennen. Door een ruimte te bieden, letterlijk en figuurlijk, konden de meiden dit bereiken. Gedurende dit proces waren de meiden erg enthousiast om aan deze samenwerking met ons te werken en om uiteindelijk hun werk tentoongesteld te zien. We hebben deze crowdfunding nodig om de kosten van drukwerk, apparatuur, fotostudio huur en tentoonstellingskosten te dekken.

We nodigen jullie allemaal graag uit om onze tentoonstelling te komen bekijken en de werken van de meiden te bewonderen. De opening is in de avond van 25 november.
