About the artists
My name is José Luis Sogorb and I am a Spanish French horn player working and living in The Netherlands. I am a member of the Concertgebouworkest and I also work as a solo artist, performing recitals and chamber music. You can find more information on my website: www.josesogorb.com
In recent years I’ve been regularly working together with the Irish pianist Éadaoin Copeland who is my main associate in the creation of this album. In this project I’m also happy to be joined by actress and singer Maartje van de Wetering and my colleagues from the Concertgebouworkest Rob Dirksen (double bass), Mark Braafhart (drums) and Miriam Pastor (english horn).
While most arrangements have been worked out by myself and Éadaoin, we are also very excited to present three arrangements that musician/composer Floris Kappeyne has made for us. I’m also delighted to announce that sound engineer and label owner Frerik de Jong will oversee the production and release of this album under the label 7 Mountain Records

The Project
Myself and Éadaoin have been exploring the inclusion of unconventional pieces in recitals, delving into the vocal repertoire and the works of other instruments both within and beyond the classical world. In this album you will hear in a new light an array of pieces ranging from works originally written for solo piano, voice and piano and solo violin to jazz standards, and folk and pop songs.
Performed on horn, a distinctive musical perspective is brought to each work and indeed this diverse collection of works reveal the versatility of the instrument and unique voice that it can bring to such repertoire
From audience reaction and our own passion for this project, we are excited to present this concept in CD format, enrichened by the addition of the wonderful musicians who will join for a selection of the pieces. The diverse programme of the CD will cover styles ranging from baroque to pop, performed on solo horn, horn and piano and larger ensembles.
My decision to partly finance my project through voordekunst crowdfunding is because connecting with an audience and building up this relationship means a great deal to me. I believe that without an audience thereis no art. Art exists because of the interaction between the artist and the audience and what I really miss at the moment in these times of social media and playlists is profound engagement. This platform allows me to engage with those who are interested in supporting my album while generating funds to make the project possible. Any support is gratefully received and appreciated.

The recording will take place in February 2023 in Westvest90 in Schiedam and the release date of the album will be the 27th of October 2023. The big party will take place in the beginning of December 2023. Location is still to be confirmed but I will keep you posted!
The total costs of the album are bigger than what it's asked on this campaign but what I raise here will go to:
Sound engineer/recording
Location rental
Grand Piano rental
