Support me realising an art residency in Colombia and share the story of wholeness!

I am eligible for an art residency in Colombia. Carried by the timelessness of nature, in mutual support from the local community and artist from all over the world in different disciplines. I may create and experiment. May live, feel and connect to "the habitat". To explore and spread my art range.

This project is about the importace of wholeness. A study of ‘Habitat’ and teachings of the timelessness of nature.

Who am I / About me:

DOLIAN OOSTERMAN also known as DOL-FYN / DO-LION. Sunshine’, that’s what people call me. Life artist / passionate creator. My development has come from a desire to create. Fascinated by life. An endless source of inspiration. When I have an idea, I want to implement it immediately and ‘experiment myself to knowledge’. This is why my work is authentic. It comes purely from within me.

I am in love with the world. Telling stories through the combination of different art expressions makes me so so very happy. I believe we need the (visual) stories, colour and love to go back to our memory, our origin: wholeness.

My practice explores the wholeness of existence. How nature, animals and human are one. The origin of habitat. Through my arts I hope to break the illusion of separation and convey the message of love, joy and awareness of unity. To inspire connection and care for each other and ourselves. Reflecting more deeply and ultimately realising wholeness again.

Long, I have been dreaming about a place in the timelessness of nature where I could just be to create. To listen to the sounds, the vibrations of live. Where I can connect with our origin and merge with community. After a long search I stumbled upon ArteSumapaz. My heartbeat raised. I emailed Ric, founder of this beautiful place and got invited to join the residency!

During this residency there's all the time and space to "zone out (or in)", as well as connect with the local community and other artist. The artists-in-residents may contribute to the alternative school by giving workshops, classes, “open crit” sessions (group discussions about the student´s art), or one-on-one discussions.

Although I don’t know exactly what the output is going to look like, there’s no words to describe how much I believe in the importance of this residency to help deepen and develop my art, my professional career as an artist my ability to finally share all the love I feel in every cell of my body through my arts with the world!

After this residency I hope to continue my exploration of Habitat in Peru. To take my practice of creating art while exploring ancient knowings and implement these in my art.

LEWENDIG
We need color. We need joy. We need wholeness.

To bring this into the world, I’ve put my heart into Lewendig. A continuous manifesto with which I tell about ‘the wholeness of existence’. Nature, animals, people being one. I like to do this in a playful manner through my various forms of art. And currently especially my paintings!

Today's society is characterised by the illusion of separation. The world has never been so "prosperous". Yet, to my mind, mainly in the Western world individualisation leads to a loss of connection. Human moving away from their fellow men; and seeming to think, we rise above animals and nature.

To (re) feel wholeness, I created 'Lewendig'. With this I hope to provide connection and positive energy for humanity. (The world).

I believe, with all my heart, that when we re-realize our origin, our wholeness and feel connected again, that will be a beautiful step towards world love.

For me, wholeness is self-evident. I often feel frustration/incomprehension in the world that seems to be so segregated and individual. Around me, I see people who feel lonely and misunderstood. Especially in Western society where life is expected in a certain form. From where people lose the power of 'the whole'. I believe that through my art I can inspire people to "LEWENDIG", ENTHUSIASM FOR LIFE IN CONNECTION, IN HEART-FULNESS.

Playfully, I touch on different subjects that express the separateness in which we live today. In order to remember the wholeness. Think of: man > nature: climate change, loss of biodiversity, nitrogen cycle, ocean acidification, pollution. man > animal: cattle/meat industry, animal trade, plastic soup. man > man: discrimination, war, oppression.

Wholeness. That is what you will find throughout every piece of art that I create. Everything is connected. My website is a stream of stories that all correspond to each other and yet each tells its own unique story. This is also my vision of existence: Everything is interconnected, with in it everyone's OWN unique characteristics and story.

About the Art residency:
ArteSumapaz is located is located in the municipality of San Bernardo, Cundinamarca. In most recent years, the property had been used as a cow farm, although historically the farm was part of a larger coffee plantation.

Their Mission is to nurture the creation of and the connection with art and culture in Colombia, through the respect for and inspiration of natural resources and community.

ArteSumapaz exists to help heal the trauma of conflict and violence; to help artists realize new forms of perception and artmaking; and to improve the awareness of Colombia internationally.

Your support:
The aim of crowdfunding is the financial aid of the residency for €3.000. This amount will allow me to join the residency for two to three months starting august/september 2023!

The money from crowdfunding will be used to cover the costs of the residency itself and it will provide for art materials.
