"The Last Starchild" is a short fantasy film about a girl named Imme, who lives in a world ruled by her mother, the Queen. Imme's father, a former bartender, is very sick, and Imme is desperate to find a way to save him. The magical starlight that is trapped within the planet, may be the only solution.

With nowhere else to turn, Imme sets out on a journey to find the starlight mage that might help her save her father from his looming death.

Imme's journey is not just about saving her father's life, but also about the fate of the entire planet. As she delves deeper into the heart of the world and the magic that sustains it, she realizes that her choices have far-reaching consequences..

The Last Starchild" is een korte fantasy film over een meisje genaamd Imme, die leeft in een wereld die wordt geregeerd door haar moeder, de koningin. Imme's vader, een voormalige barman, is erg ziek en Imme is wanhopig op zoek naar een manier om hem te redden. Het magische sterrenlicht dat gevangen zit in de planeet, is de enige oplossing. .

My name is Merlijn Hermsen, Rotterdam based filmmaker. I am a graduation student from the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam where I am studying audiovisual design. Throughout my time at the academy, I have developed my skills in creating visually stunning and compelling stories through film and other forms of media. For my graduation film, I wanted to make something within my favorite genre: Fantasy.

My love for the world of fantasy began at a young age, as I dove headfirst into the stories of several fantasy books, series and films. From that moment on, I was hooked on the genre, devouring everything from novels to films and tabletop roleplaying games. I always dreamt of making my own fantasy story.

Now, I'm excited to bring my love of fantasy to a wider audience by creating a brand new world for people to experience on the big screen .

Mijn naam is Merlijn Hermsen en ik ben een filmmaker uit Rotterdam. Ik ben afstuderende aan de Willem de Kooning Academie in Rotterdam en volg de opleiding audiovisual design. Gedurende mijn tijd op de academie heb ik mijn mezelf ontwikkeld in het creëren van meeslepende verhalen door middel van film en andere vormen van media. Voor mijn afstudeerfilm wilde ik iets maken binnen mijn favoriete genre: Fantasy.

Mijn liefde voor de fantasy begon op al jonge leeftijd, Ik was geobsedeerde door de verhalen van verschillende fantasieboeken, series en films. Ik had altijd al de droom om ooit zelf een eigen fantasyfilm te maken.

Nu ben ik verheugd om mijn liefde voor fantasy naar een breder publiek te brengen door een geheel nieuwe wereld te creëren die mensen op het grote scherm kunnen ervaren.

My name is Sam Niehorster, and I am a student of transformation design at the Willem de Kooning Academy and also pursuing IBACS at Erasmus University in Rotterdam. I have always been fascinated by the various disciplines within the art world. From a young age, I experimented and challenged myself to find new ways to tell stories throughout different disciplines.

Together with Merlijn, we are creating a fantastical world that we want to share with you. I am excited to explore and immerse you in the magical world we are creating. We hope that our passion for storytelling will inspire and captivate you.

Mijn naam is Sam Niehorster en ik studeer transformation design aan de Willem de Kooning Academy en volg ook IBACS aan de Erasmus Universiteit in Rotterdam. Ik ben altijd gefascineerd geweest door de verschillende disciplines binnen de kunstwereld. Van jongs af aan heb ik geëxperimenteerd en mezelf uitgedaagd om nieuwe manieren te vinden om verhalen te vertellen door middel van verschillende disciplines.
